About Edgewood Country Club
Edgewood Country Club features a George Cobb-designed championship golf course that first
opened in 1972. The course plays 6,827 yards from the Championship tees, and we are a 5-time
host of the West Virginia Open and regularly host WVGA and USGA qualifying events. We are
seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Golf Course Superintendent to lead all aspects
of golf course maintenance and grounds operations.
Position Summary
The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the overall maintenance, conditioning, and
presentation of the golf course, practice facilities, and landscaping at the golf course. This position
oversees agronomic programs, personnel management, equipment planning, irrigation systems,
and budget administration. The Golf Course Superintendent reports directly to the General
Manager and works closely with the Golf Professional staff, Golf Committee, and Club leadership
to deliver an outstanding golf experience for members and guests.
Essential Responsibilities
Course and Grounds Management
Develop and execute agronomic programs that promote healthy turf and superior playing
conditions
Plan and oversee all day-to-day golf facility activities, including mowing, fertility,
irrigation, pest management, aerification, and cultural practices
Manage course improvements, renovations, and capital projects
Monitor and maintain the golf course irrigation system and water management practices
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best management practices
pertaining to pesticide use, insects, pests and plant diseases in turf
Leadership and Staff Management
Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise grounds maintenance staff
Foster a positive, collaborative, accountable, and safety-focused work environment
Perform all employee interviews, hiring, evaluations and mentoring
Ensure all employees are properly trained in equipment operation and safety procedures
Assure staff adheres to OSHA standards, IPM practices and aid employees with technical,
operational and safety coaching
Financial and Administrative Management
Prepare and manage annual operating and capital budgets
Monitor expenditures and control costs while maintaining quality standards
Manage vendor services regarding fuel, equipment, fertilizer and course control products
Qualifications
Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field
preferred.
3 to 5 years of experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent
preferred
Strong knowledge of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, pest management, and golf
course operations
Knowledge of relevant environmental and safety regulations
Ability to obtain or maintain required state pesticide applicator licenses
Compensation and Benefits
Edgewood Country Club offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with
experience, including a competitive base salary between $80,000.00 and $100,000.00 depending
on each individual applicant’s qualifications. Additional benefits are available upon request.
